The passage from Galatians 3:17 reminds us that the covenant God made, even though it spans centuries, is not annulled by the arrival of the law after 430 years; the promise remains firm because it depends on God’s faithfulness, not on our practice. The centrality of Christ reveals that grace is not revoked by the rigour of the law, but perfected by the fulfillment of all that God promised. When we look at the life of Jesus, we realize that the promise is a person: Christ, who gives life to faith, not a mere sum of rules. Thus, our pastoral journey is not a climb of obligations, but a response of worship to a God who remains faithful from the previous covenant to the consummation of time. Each day, each challenge, each doubt can, by faith, find rest in the promise that does not fail, because the source is divine faithfulness manifested in Christ.
Our understanding must be shaped by the truth that grace does not depend on human merit, but on God’s eternal will. Observance of the law had its preparatory function, pointing to the need for a Savior, whose work on the cross fully fulfills what the law demanded. Thus, the pastor and the believer are called to walk toward confidence in Christ, recognizing that the promise remains valid and operative in every season of life. Pastoral practice, then, involves teaching the membership to rest in the person of Christ, cultivating a simple and sincere faith that responds with obedience and gratitude. May the believer find courage to live by faith, not by the sum of works, but by the eternal Rock that sustains the promise.
In closing, I wish to offer practical encouragement: remain steadfast in the hope that does not disappoint, knowing that God does not break the covenant due to human failures, but keeps His promise in Christ. May your journey be marked by constant trust in the Lord, by practicing faith, and by the joy of being found in Christ, living in a way that God’s grace shines in every attitude. May this time be a motivation to persevere, to cultivate fellowship with Christ, and to witness the faithfulness of God to those who believe.
