M: Movement of the Spirit

M. The single letter becomes a lens on Genesis 1:2—The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. In that primeval silence we see a word that begins with M: Motion. The Spirit is not absent from chaos; He hovers, present and poised, a divine movement into the dark.

Hovering is not passive observation but intentional presence preparing to make. Before God speaks light, the Spirit moves over the waters, ordering what is formless. This reveals a theological truth: God's first work in our voids is presence. The Maker moves into our messes before we are able to understand or act, and His motion often precedes our clarity.

For the Christian in a season of confusion or emptiness the pastoral response is practical and small: name the darkness, invite the hovering Spirit, and take the next obedient step of faith. Resist frantic fixes; practice waiting with expectancy, prayer that listens, and simple acts of obedience that follow the Spirit's gentle prompting. Trust that divine movement is often hidden at first—forming, mending, and arranging beneath the surface—so cultivate patience and attentiveness to His work.

Remember the 'M' here: the Maker who Moves in mystery and mercy is at work in your life. If your world feels formless and dark, take heart—God's Spirit hovers over the waters of your situation and is preparing to bring order, life, and purpose. Be encouraged: the same Spirit who hovered at creation is hovering over you and is moving toward restoration.
