Flee from the Troubles, Courage in the Pursuit of Justice and Faith

You, however, man of God, flee from all this evil. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.

In this first line of 1 Timothy 6:11, we are reminded of a countercultural call: it is not enough to avoid evil; we are invited to actively pursue what builds up. Fleeing is not merely avoiding sin, but walking toward a character that reflects the kingdom of God. Righteousness is not merely an external norm; it is the practice of living according to the heart of God in every decision, in every relationship, in every moment of our daily life.

Devotion points us toward a continual intimacy with the Creator. It is not generic devotion, but a daily practice of reverence, prayer, and submission to the will of God. Faith enters as firm trust in God’s character, who sustains when the road is filled with opposing winds. Love, in turn, transforms our efforts into genuine service, reminding us that the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart and to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Finally, endurance and gentleness strengthen us to endure trials without losing our witness. Endurance is not obstinacy, but steadfast faithfulness; gentleness is not weakness, but strength under the Spirit’s control. May this message be not only a theoretical reminder but a practical motivation: choose each day to walk in Christ’s grace, nurturing righteousness, devotion, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness, until the Lord finds our hearts faithful and rewards us with a peace that surpasses all understanding.
