Grace and peace to the faithful saints

The apostle Paul presents himself not by his own merit, but as sent "by the will of God" and directs his greeting to the saints who are in Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus. This presentation reminds us that our Christian identity is born from God's sovereign call and that the authority that upholds the community comes from His will and from the person of Christ.

To be called "saints" and recognized as "faithful in Christ Jesus" describes a reality of both position and journey: we are set apart for God and called to a concrete faithfulness in the day-to-day. Practical holiness is manifested in decisions that honor Christ, in confession when we fail, and in perseverance within the community; therefore the Christian life is both receiving God's gift and exercising the faithfulness that this gift produces.

The greeting "Grace and peace" from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ offers us the two truths that sustain spiritual life: the grace that justifies and empowers us, and the peace that governs the heart amid circumstances. Receive the grace that transforms you and cultivate the habit of resting in the peace of Christ; both are divine resources for living with integrity and service in the church and in the world.

If today you ask yourself how to move forward, lean on that double truth: you are holy by God's will and you are called to live faithfully in Christ Jesus. Do not wear yourself out trying to earn what has already been given to you; let grace shape you and let peace direct your steps. Walk with courage, persevere in everyday faithfulness, and trust that the Lord upholds you and urges you on to fulfill your vocation.
