He stood in front of the square, right inside the entrance of the Water Gate, from early morning until noon, and read aloud to all who could understand. All the people listened attentively to the reading of the book of the law. In that scene, we see that the word of God is not a private matter, but a promise of restoration when the hearing of the law is unmidled by the obedience that comes from a contrite heart and faith fed on truth. When the word comes with clarity, it exposes our condition before God and calls us to return to Him with repentance, faith, and trust.
When a people listen closely to the Word of God, a true spiritual restoration begins. It is not merely an intellectual learning, but a profound transformation that impacts priorities, relationships, and daily life.
