The truth of Ephesians 2:10 plants us in a firm identity: we are not an accident or an unfinished project, we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus. This statement speaks of origin and relationship: God formed us, bought us, and called us to a new life in Christ, from which an intentional purpose springs.
That purpose is neither vague nor improvised: "to do good works, which God prepared beforehand." Before our personal story existed, God had already arranged paths of service, acts of mercy, and moments in which his grace would be made concrete through our hands. Good works are fruit and response, not a currency to earn acceptance.
Walking in those works requires discernment and daily obedience: cultivating intimacy with Christ in prayer and the Word, putting into play the gifts He has given, and learning to say yes to ordinary opportunities for love. Practice attentiveness: ask the Spirit where the need is, start with small steps, and remain faithful in the ordinary; thus we will walk in the works already prepared.
Today you can rest in the fact that your life has eternal purpose: you are not alone or lost, but called to manifest God's work in your surroundings. Take a step of faith, faithfully do what is before you, and trust that He will sustain you. Take heart: God created you for good works and equips you to carry them out.
