John the Baptist points to the supremacy of Christ, announcing that someone even more powerful is coming, whose dignity the prophet does not dare touch. As we contemplate Jesus as “someone far superior” who is not even worthy to untie his sandals, we are invited to a contemplative reverence: who is this who comes, who walks among us with power to heal, to forgive, and to transform? The rupture between servant and Lord reveals the nature of the kingdom of God, which is not attained by human force, but by humble obedience before the divine mystery. In Christ, power is not exalted to destroy, but to reveal mercy, justice, and holiness that change hearts.
Therefore, may our life be a response of faith to the first one who revealed himself: Jesus, the most powerful. May we be men and women of God who recognize the supremacy of Christ, trusting in his grace to be transformed by the truth that liberates us. May each day be lived in obedience, awaiting the fullness of the kingdom, and may our hope be a living witness to the one who comes after John, the one who calls us to follow with confidence and joy.
