Lord, I want to trust You with all my heart, to lean on You alone as my stronghold. Yet in the daily grind I feel stuck, as if I’m treading water and never reaching shore. The pull of worth and progress spins in my mind: am I doing enough, am I measuring up, will this season ever change? In Psalm 94:22, the Psalmist speaks a different refrain: The Lord has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge. This is not a plan for self-improvement but a revelation of relationship. When our strength fails, God’s steadfastness remains, a rock that does not shift even when our hearts tremble.
To trust, then, is not mere feeling but choosing a different center. I may feel the weight of effort and the ache of weariness, yet God invites me to pivot my gaze from the output of my hands to the sufficiency of His grace. If I cling to my own schemes to escape this stuckness, I will find only more of the same; if I rest in Him, I discover a shelter where my soul can breathe. The rock of refuge is not distant math but a present Person—Jesus—who bears my burdens with quiet strength, who hears my prayers and meets me in the very place of need. Psalm 94:22 reassures me that even when I cannot feel it, God is the fortress beneath my footsteps.
Practically, I can practice simple faith acts today: confess the truth that God is my refuge, name the moment I feel stuck, and bring it before Him in prayer. I can choose one small step toward rest rather than a dozen toward accomplishment. I can invite a friend to remind me of God’s faithfulness, not my own performance. As the light of the Gospel enters this space, my fear dissolves not by correcting the world but by embracing a sanctuary that never fails. In Christ, the waiting becomes an apprenticeship in trust, the weakness becomes a doorway to grace, and the heart learns to lean on the rock that endures. May we learn to say with the Psalmist: You are my stronghold; you are my refuge; you are sufficient for today, and enough for tomorrow. Be encouraged: He is with you in the struggle, and He will strengthen your weak hands and steady your trembling heart.
