In the Beginning: Order and Purpose

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. That inaugural act teaches us that reality has its origin and meaning in the Creator; as believers we look to Christ as the author and sustainer of all, and in his work we discover that purpose precedes the project.

Being the image of God implies reflecting his creative character: bringing order where there is confusion and setting boundaries where chaos reigns. In the concrete details of our daily life this can be seen in simple, faithful gestures: organizing our notes in the Notebook, grouping what is important, and using a #tag that allows us to return to what is essential. These practical acts are not trivial, but echoes of a living theology that respects the divine order.

✱ ✱ ✱

When we put our thoughts and memories in order we are, in reality, cultivating a heart available to listen to God. Reviewing what is written, classifying what we learn from Scripture and marking what we need to pray about or obey facilitates spiritual growth; external discipline feeds inner clarity and helps us discern the purpose God reveals in his Word.

Today I encourage you to take concrete steps: create a place for your notes, add a #tag that captures the essentials and review regularly so that nothing important is lost. May the Lord, who placed order in creation, give you grace to order your time and your heart according to his purpose; move forward with courage, God is with you.
