Wisdom Comes from His Mouth

Proverbs 2:6 reminds us that the ultimate source of wisdom is not human opinion or isolated experience, but the Lord himself: "For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." This compels us to refocus our search; true understanding is born of listening to the voice of God, receiving His revelation, and submitting reason to the truth revealed in Scripture.

In practice this means cultivating spiritual habits: reading the Word with humility, praying for discernment, and keeping silence to hear. It is not just about accumulating information, but about allowing divine knowledge to transform our decisions, affect our priorities, and shape our character. The intelligence that God gives is not mere cleverness, but an ability to see things as He sees them and act accordingly.

When we face difficult decisions, relationship conflicts, or moments of uncertainty, we can turn to the Lord as the source of counsel and understanding. Asking for wisdom involves trusting that His mouth — Scripture and the guidance of the Spirit — will speak to us clearly; it also involves obeying what we do understand, practicing discernment in community, and measuring our options against divine truth.

Today, put yourself in an attitude of listening: pray asking for wisdom, open the Bible expecting to be taught, and obey the first step He shows you. Trust that the God who gives knowledge and understanding is faithful to guide you; draw near to Him and receive with joy the wisdom that transforms. Be encouraged to seek Him and to live according to His Word!
