Asking the Lord for the Holy Fear: Path to Wisdom

O Lord, I recognize before You that holy fear is a gift that cannot be manufactured by human effort, but received by the faith that cries out to You. I ask You, with a contrite heart, to grant us a reverent fear that turns us away from pride and draws us near to Your holiness, so that we may walk in the truth of Your Word and recognize the majesty of Your name. May this fear not be mere feeling, but a daily practice that shapes desires, choices, and attitudes before You.

We know from Your Word that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, and without it even wisdom loses its way. I implore You that the Lord would feed us with discernment to distinguish between wisdom that comes from You and wisdom that inflames our pride. May our thirst for learning always be guided by humility, dependence on God, and the obedient pursuit of the righteousness that pleases the Lamb.

May the prayer for a holy fear become a lifestyle: to pray at the start of each day, in every decision, in every relationship, asking You: “What is Your will, Lord?”. May the fear of the Lord awaken courage to reject sin, to confess sincerely, to remain steadfast in holiness, trusting in the strength of Christ who enables us to walk in faithfulness even when the path is narrow.

I conclude with encouragement: God hears the petitions that arise from recognizing our dependence on Him and grants us what we ask for for His glory. May our pursuit of a holy fear lead us to a life that testifies to the wisdom that comes from God, so that we may be men who worship in spirit and in truth, walking in the light that Jesus opened for us.
