Thy Will Be Done: Obedience Born of Love for Christ

The passage from John 14:24 confronts us with a simple and profound truth: whoever does not love me does not obey me, and my words come from the Father. In the midst of clear phrases, Jesus indicates that obedience is not an external ritual but an expression of active love toward Him. Therefore, when we pray asking that His will be done, we should not seek comfort or self-preservation, but diligent surrender to divine direction, trusting that the Father knows what is best for our lives.

The central note you shared—“thy will be done”—invites us to a daily rhythm of faith: to ask, to listen, to obey. God’s will is not a distant destination, but a presence that guides our steps, decisions, and relationships. This posture of surrender arises from love for Christ; if there is no love, obedience becomes mere obligation. But when love for Jesus is real, His words become life in every situation, revealing the right path even when it is uncomfortable.

In our practical life, this surrender translates into obeying when it is difficult, seeking God’s guidance in decisions, and trusting that His commandments are for our good. It is not a passive submission, but an active trust that desires to live according to the Father’s design. May a sincere longing arise in us today to say: thy will be done, Lord, knowing that Your plans are for good and that Your grace sustains every step for Your glory.

Be encouraged to live each day under that obedience fused in love! Jesus has already shown the way and invites us to follow Him with joy, knowing that Your will works for our good and the good of those around us.
