Treasure That Lasts: Rich Toward God

MrsK

In Luke 12:21, Jesus warns the rich man who stores up earthly wealth but is not rich toward God. The surface question the passage asks is not how much we possess, but what possesses our heart. A life that clings to comfort, security, or status without drawing near to the Father will eventually feel hollow, for real wealth is measured not by accumulation, but by relationship. When we pause to listen to God's voice, we discover that riches meant to endure begin with a single confession: you are enough, and you invite me into a life of dependence, trust, and affection for You.

The call to be rich toward God invites practical shifts: prioritize time with Him in prayer, study, and surrender; reorient our daily decisions toward generosity and justice; and cultivate a posture of obedience that lines up with Christ’s example. This is not a checklist to earn favor, but a response to grace that reshapes our priorities. As we grow in intimacy with God, our finances, time, and relationships become tools to bless others and to reflect the reliability of a Father who provides beyond what we can count or measure.

In seasons of uncertainty, the invitation remains clear: seek first the kingdom of God, and your heart will align with eternal riches. When anxiety clouds the mind, remember that true wealth is relational—with God, and with those He calls us to love. Let your life store up treasure where moth and rust do not destroy, in obedience, in faith, and in love that flows from the Spirit. May you be found rich toward God in every choice, and may that richness overflow into a life of hope, service, and encouragement to others. You can live today leaning on Him, and rest in the promise that He is faithful to provide everything you need according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
