A child has been born to us, a son given to us; the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
In this passage from Isaiah, we behold the fullness of God's promise: an unshakable guide, an authority that does not deviate, and a peace that does not depend on our strength. The Wonderful Counselor suggests counsel that not only reasons, but heals; he is the Wise One who knows the human heart and guides it toward the truth that sets free. When we face difficult decisions, we can come to the One who knows every detail of our life and offers us direction with mercy and truth.
Mighty God is not distance or abstraction: he enters our history in the person of Christ. Everlasting Father reveals a love that transcends time, a love that sustains us through trials and human fragility. And the Prince of Peace brings reconciliation, order, and rest to exhausted souls. In the midst of anxiety, we can be still before the presence of the One who rules with justice and who gives a peace beyond all understanding.
Receive this Sunday the invitation to live in the reality that salvation, wisdom, and peace are not mere ideas, but a person who walks with you. May every decision, every day, bow before the Son who was given for us; and in his nearness, may you find comfort, purpose, and hope to move forward with courage and joy, knowing that we do not walk alone, but under his rule of love.
