The Cross That Won Over Principalities and Powers

Jesus came to fulfill God's victory over all power. As He carried the cross, He humbled the principalities and powers, disorienting the power of sin and death. The scripture in Colossians reveals that, when He died on the cross, Jesus canceled the written code of debt with its rules that was against us and he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. By disarming the authorities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them on the cross. When we contemplate this act of humiliation and victory, we are invited to look to Christ, who became sin for us so that in Him we might receive God's righteousness.
