Dying to the Flesh, Rising in the Spirit

Before all else, Paul calls us to a sober examination: examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. This is not a casual self-assessment, but a spiritual diagnostic rooted in truth about who Jesus is and where He dwells. When we persist in self-deception, we miss the gracious work of the Spirit; when we invite the Spirit to search, we invite renewal. The core question is not merely about beliefs, but about the transformative presence of Christ in us. If Jesus is in you, there will be discernible life, a movement from dead works to living trust in Him, from self-reliance to dependence on grace, from fleshly patterns to godly aims.

The user’s note—“DIE TO THE FLESH ARISE IN THE SPIRIT”—takes up Paul’s invitation with urgent tempo. Dying to the flesh is not a one-time decision but a daily discipline: surrendering secret loves, renouncing validated sins, and choosing the Spirit’s fruit over cursory cravings. This requires honest confession, repentance that returns us to the cross, and faithful obedience that aligns thoughts, desires, and actions with Christ. In the crucible of self-examination, we learn what it means to walk by faith and not by sight, to cultivate a posture of dependence, and to seek the life that only Christ can birth within us.

When the Spirit works in us, the evidence is not triumphalism but actual transformation: love that forgives, patience that endures, humility that serves, and courage that faces trials with hope. Dying to the flesh liberates the will to be captivated by the Son who dwells in us; rising in the Spirit assigns our steps to the sanctifying path of obedience. We can live with a hopeful realism, knowing that the one who began a good work in us will carry it to completion. The heart becomes a temple of grace, not a gallery of excuses; the mouth speaks truth in love, and the hands labor for God’s kingdom with integrity.

May this day anchor you in the comforting truth that Jesus Christ is in you, and may your daily choices testify to life in the Spirit. If you feel the tug of the old self, remember the powerful promise that God gives grace to the humble and strength to the weary. Resolve by His mercy to die to the fleeting desires of the flesh and to rise in the Spirit’s work within you. You are not left to your own devices; you are equipped to walk in faith, to test and trust, and to live in the hope of Christ’s transformative presence.
