Where Is My Treasure?

The words of Jesus in Matthew 6:21 reveal something profound about who we are: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Our heart always runs in the direction of what we value most, what occupies our thoughts, our dreams, and our efforts. If our greatest treasure is in things that pass away, our heart will live restless, fragile, and easily shaken. But if Christ is our greatest treasure, we find a safe and firm place to rest our heart. He does not change, does not fail, and cannot be taken from us. Therefore, this simple phrase from Jesus invites us to look honestly within ourselves and ask: what, in fact, is my treasure today?

It is easy to say with our lips that our treasure is the Lord, but our daily choices reveal the truth of our heart. Where do I spend my time, my energy, my plans, my money, my deepest thoughts? When Christ is just a detail in the agenda, and not the center of life, we end up leaving our heart tied to fragile treasures: recognition, success, financial security, relationships, people's opinions. None of this, in itself, is necessarily wrong, but it becomes dangerous when it takes the place that belongs only to God. Jesus does not want to just participate in our life; He desires to be the very foundation of it. When He is our greatest treasure, everything else finds its proper place.

Having Christ as treasure does not mean abandoning responsibilities or disregarding the blessings of this life, but seeing everything in light of eternity. It means working, studying, dreaming, loving, and planning with a heart anchored in God, not enslaved by results. It is living knowing that our possessions, our health, our position, and even our achievements are temporary, but the grace that reached us in Jesus is eternal. The treasure that cannot be stolen is the certainty of God's love, salvation in Christ, the presence of the Holy Spirit in us. When we remember this, our fears lose strength and our priorities begin to align with the Kingdom of God. We start to seek less human applause and more faithfulness to the Lord in every small choice of the day.

Today, the Holy Spirit invites you to reevaluate where you have placed your treasure and, consequently, your heart. Perhaps it is time to let go of some things that have been taking up too much space in your mind and return to Jesus the place of greatest value in your life. Ask Him to renew in you the joy of communion, sincere prayer, simple obedience, and joyful trust. You are not alone in this journey; the Lord Himself strengthens those who wish to live for Him. Surrender to Him your fears, your plans, and your expectations, and let your heart rest in the treasure that never fades. Walk today knowing: when Christ is your treasure, your heart is in the safest place in the world.
