There are six attitudes that the Lord hates, seven that he detests: proud eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who stirs up conflict among brothers. As we contemplate these traits, we recognize our fragile humanity and the great need for God’s grace. It is not merely about avoiding rules, but about allowing the truth of Christ to transform our inner being, so that our conduct reflects the love that was shed on the cross. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
