The world may hate, but Jesus calls us to fidelity

If the world hates you, do not be afraid or dismayed; remember that before you, it hated me. Jesus speaks calmly about a reality that does not depend on our popularity, but on our belonging to Christ. When persecution comes, the heart of the gospel sustains us: it is not a defeat, it is an identification with Him who knew the cross and rejection to lead us to life. The pastoral reflection calls us to measure our worth not by human applause, but by fidelity to the Lord's call, who loved us first and called us to be light in the midst of darkness.

Thus, we should not worry about the world's hatred, but remain rooted in Christ. If the world hates us, it is because it has already hated Jesus, and our response cannot be retaliation or self-pity, but compassion grounded in biblical truth. The spiritual practice here is simple: seek intimacy with the Father, cultivate prayer, reflect the image of Christ, and testify with gentleness and courage. The world may persecute us, but the hope of the gospel sustains us and redeems us from the burden of earning human approval.

May this perception shape our practical life: we live amid acknowledgments that we belong to Christ, serving with love even when it is unpopular. Amid pressures, choose fidelity to the Word, compassion in the face of hostility, and prayer that opens paths of reconciliation. The final encouragement is clear: do not fear the hatred of the world; fear rather the sin that separates us from the love of God. In Jesus, we find strength, direction, and a mission that transcends what the world values, to bear witness to the kingdom of God with serene courage.
