All in God’s Timing

Loreta O.

In Acts 1:7 Jesus gently rebukes his anxious disciples: 'It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.' That short sentence presses us up against two truths at once — God's sovereignty over the unfolding of history, and the humble limits of our knowing. Jesus does not mock their curiosity; he redirects it toward trust in the Father who determines the timetable for his purposes.

To live by that declaration is to learn a spiritual posture: we are stewards of our present, not arbiters of the future. God has fixed times and seasons according to his wisdom and authority, which means that the longings and questions in our hearts are received by a Father who rules with purpose. The disciples were called not to solve the clockwork of God's plans but to remain obedient, prayerful, and expectant until the Spirit came — a pattern for us when the timing seems delayed or unclear.

Practically, this means channeling impatience into preparedness: cultivate prayer that aligns our desires with God's will, pursue faithful service where you stand, and grow in holiness while you wait. When anxiety whispers that you must force an outcome, remember that waiting is an active discipline — watchful, serving, and trusting that God's authority shapes circumstances in ways we do not yet see. Share burdens in Christian community, keep doing the next faithful thing, and let your hope be formed by the Father rather than by the timetable of your fears.

Take heart: the One who fixed the times cares for you in every season. You are not abandoned to uncertainty; you are invited to trust a sovereign Father whose timing is wise and good. Rest in his authority, keep faithfulness in your practice, and be encouraged that God’s purposes will unfold in his perfect time.
