The merchants among the nations nod when they see it, for you have come to a terrible end and will no longer exist.” Ezekiel 27:36
For today, remember that prosperity can enchant and distract the heart. Ask the Lord to reveal where you have placed your security — whether in material things or in his faithfulness.
Prosperity, when not discerned by the Spirit, can become a seduction that diverts our eyes from God's faithfulness. The prophet Ezekiel reminds us that the end of idols is empty and deceptive; likewise, riches that are not shared with mercy and justice reveal themselves as camouflaged miseries. May the Spirit's illumination expose the areas of the heart where we trust more in the passage of goods than in the faithfulness of the Lord.
May we today experience the peace that comes from resting in God's faithfulness, recognizing our provision as his grace and not our merit. May the courage to choose faithfulness amid seductive prosperity be our encouragement: to walk by faith, not by sight, trusting that the Lord sustains what he himself establishes.
