“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” reminds us that everything started with Him, not with us. Before anything existed, God already had a purpose, a design, and a story to tell. Nothing appeared by accident, and that includes your own life, your days, and your decisions. Just as the universe cannot be understood without its Creator, neither can your story be understood without Christ at the center. When you look at your past, your successes and your mistakes, you can rest assured that God has always known what He is doing. He is the God of beginnings, and also of your new beginnings today.
Think of your life as a notebook that God is carefully writing in. Each page has notes, highlighted moments, tears, laughter, and answered prayers. Sometimes you look at certain pages and don’t understand why they are there, but for God, nothing is disordered or out of place. He knows what to highlight, what to leave in silence, and what to rewrite with His grace. In Christ, even the pages that seem stained by sin or pain can be redeemed. The same God who ordered the heavens and the earth can order your inner world.
It’s curious how we organize our notes with sections, tabs, and labels so we don’t lose anything important. Similarly, God doesn’t lose a single line of your story; every detail is under His loving gaze. Your moments of prayer, your doubts, your falls, and your small steps of faith are “labeled” by Him with mercy and patience. Nothing escapes Him, and nothing is too small for Christ to care about. If today you feel scattered, as if your thoughts were many loose notes, remember that your heavenly Father is an expert at bringing order from chaos. In Jesus, your life receives a new title: beloved, forgiven, in process.
Genesis 1:1 invites you to remember that you do not walk alone: the God who initiated the universe continues to work in your story today. You can open your heart to Him as one opens a notebook and shows everything, without filters or adornments. He is not scared of your crossings out or your blank pages; rather, He rejoices when you allow Him to write with you. Surrender to Christ your plans, your fears, and your dreams, and ask Him to be the beginning of everything in your life, every day. Even if you don’t understand everything that is happening, trust that the Author is good and does not let go of the pen. Move forward with courage: in God’s hands, each new dawn can be the beginning of a chapter full of grace and hope.
