Adopted by Love

Scripture proclaims that, in his love, God predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will (Eph 1:5). In this verse we see the Father's absolute initiative: adoption is the fruit of sovereign love, a benevolent plan that brings us into the divine family. It is not a matter of human merit, but of a grace that transforms us from the outside in, bringing us to the Father through the Son.

To be adopted implies a change of status and identity: we leave the position of strangers and receive the place of sons and heirs. This changes how we relate to God — we have access, we can call God Father, and we partake in the spiritual inheritance in Christ. This new sonship gives meaning to our wounds and strengthens our hope in the divine promises, even amid daily struggles.

Living out this reality requires consistent spiritual practice: trusting in the Father's provision, obeying the Son, and opening oneself to transformation by the Spirit. It involves discipline in prayer, in the Word, and in confession; turning to the church as family and exercising forgiveness and welcome with fellow brothers and sisters. Adoption also challenges us to act on behalf of the marginalized, offering the same grace and closeness we received in Christ.

If today you doubt your worth or feel out of place, turn to this truth: God, in his benevolent love, chose you to be his child through Jesus Christ. Allow this identity to guide your choices, comfort your heart, and inspire your service; live with the confidence of one who belongs to a faithful Father. Rise with courage — you are loved, adopted, and called to bear witness to this hope.
