"Stand up! Rise and shine" is not just a motivational advice, but a call from God Himself directed to His people. In Isaiah 60:1, the Lord turns to a weary community, marked by darkness and accumulated frustrations, and declares: now is the time to rise. He does not ignore the period of pain, tears, fatigue, and long waiting, but, with authority, establishes a new moment in which His light decisively breaks through the darkness.
When the text states that "your Light has come," this expression ultimately points to Christ, the Light of the world, who came to illuminate our hearts and reorient our history. In Him, God's clarity not only dispels the external darkness but also reaches the innermost part of our being, revealing wounds, fears, guilt, and everything that seemed to remain hidden.
When Jesus enters our lives, He does not limit Himself to offering comfort or temporary relief; He also calls us to step out of spiritual and emotional inertia. His presence summons us to abandon the state of inner prostration and to stand up again, with renewed faith, even if the circumstances around us have not completely changed.
In Christ, the time to rise is not conditioned solely to the transformation of external situations, but is grounded in the certainty that God's glory has already begun to shine upon us. Thus, even in the face of struggles and uncertainties, we can respond to God's call, rising with confidence, because the Light has already come, and darkness does not have the final word over our lives.
