The apostle Paul reminds us that it is time to awaken from sleep, and this exhortation speaks directly to the heart of the Christian man. Often, we push our spiritual life aside, postponing important decisions and becoming complacent, as if there is always plenty of time. We say that one day we will be stronger in faith, more holy in our actions, more present in our families, more responsible with what God has placed in our hands.
However, the Word declares that our salvation is now closer than when we first believed, indicating that the time is not tomorrow, but now. Each passing day brings us closer to the encounter with the Lord, and this should not generate fear, but urgency and spiritual responsibility. We cannot afford to live distracted, as if eternity were a distant matter from our routine.
God does not call perfect men, for He knows our weakness, our falls, and our limitations. What He seeks are awakened men, willing to see the time in which they live and to respond to the Lord's call with seriousness. Men who pay attention to opportunities to serve, to love, to correct the course, to ask for forgiveness, to start over with humility and faith.
Christ calls us to open our eyes to the spiritual reality behind every choice, word, and daily habit. It is not just about attending church or maintaining a religious appearance, but about living awake to God in everything we do, as men of faith. Being a man after God's own heart is to allow Him to govern our decisions, our relationships, our work, and our character, day by day, while there is still time to awaken.
