Aertguj — The Breath that Makes Us Alive

In the account of Genesis 2:7 we see the simplest and deepest foundation of our condition: we are clay molded by the hands of the Lord and we receive life only when the Creator breathed into our nostrils.

The word Aertguj, here taken as a symbolic image of the divine breath, reminds that our existence depends on an intimate and personal act of God — we are not self-sufficient; we were formed and given life by Him.

This truth has practical consequences for daily life: acknowledging that we came from dust does not abase us; rather it gives us dignity and limits. Living means managing the body and creation well, attending to relationships and work with reverence and gratitude, and remembering that every breath is a gift. Use Aertguj as a reminder: before reacting, breathe, acknowledge the origin of your life and respond with humility and responsibility.

Theologically, the breath of Genesis points to the continuous action of God who sustains life by his Spirit and is fulfilled fully in Christ, source and guarantee of true life. If we were formed from dust, we were also called to depend on the one who gives us breath; our Christian identity is born from this twofold fact: creation and sustenance. Thus prayer, obedience and hope in the divine promises arise from a concrete trust in the Breath that keeps us.

Therefore, live each day conscious of this breath: care for the body, cultivate the spirit, serve your neighbor and let Aertguj bring you back to the recognition of the gift of each breath. May this remembrance lead you to pray, trust and act with courage — remain confident in the Breath that made you alive.
