Currently, no discipline seems to be a source of joy, but of sorrow. Yet for those who have been exercised through it, it yields a tranquil fruit of righteousness.
The reflection arises from the certainty that God, in his mercy, allows moments of discipline to form his people. Although pain and correction are not immediate joys, Scripture promises us a result: a tranquil fruit of righteousness. This fruit is not the fruit of our strength, but of his faithfulness working in the midst of trial. When we look to Christ, we see the Master who endured pain to bring salvation; thus, our discipline becomes a path of closeness, holiness, and perseverance.
In our daily life, the teaching of Hebrews 12 invites us to respond with humility, faith, and obedience. It is not about mere resignation to difficulties, but about active participation in God’s work: to accept correction with a willing spirit, to seek spiritual growth, and to trust that God, who began the good work, will bring it to completion. May every pain be transformed into a humble prayer, every correction into growth in holiness, and every moment of discipline into a step toward the justice that pleases God. Take heart: in the midst of suffering, God is at work to unite us to Christ and strengthen us for his kingdom.
