Scripture reveals to us a mystery now made manifest: God, in His good purpose, has established it in Christ (Ephesians 1:9). And this revelation comes to us in the form of proclamation — the Gospel of our salvation — which, when heard and believed, identifies us with Christ and makes us the object of a living promise, marked by the seal of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13). It is not merely a distant doctrine, but the concrete experience of being known and incorporated into God's redemptive purpose.
The seal of the Spirit is a biblical image of security and possession: it marks the believer as God's property, preserves his identity amid storms, and lays upon us the certainty of the inheritance in Christ. Just as a seal guarantees the authenticity of a covenant, the Spirit is the guarantee of the consummation of redemption; He is the inward testimony that the work begun by Christ will be completed by the Father. This guarantee is not a vague emotion, but the powerful action of God assuring us of life in communion with Him.
In practical life, recognizing this seal transforms behaviors and priorities. Remaining in the Word, cultivating prayer, participating in the community of saints, and practicing repentance are concrete expressions of the faith that was heard and believed. The seal produces courage for holiness and for service: knowing that we belong to God, we face temptations with humility, seek consolation in the Spirit in trials, and persevere in love toward others as a visible fruit of the inward grace.
Therefore, brother or sister, live today conscious of this seal: let the Word reorder your desires, submit to the Spirit who transforms, and act with the security of the inheritance that has been promised to you. Remain in the Word, trust the seal of the Spirit, and live as a secure heir of Christ.
