Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, because it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.
Jesus paid the price for our sin, bearing it all on that cross; in His suffering and obedience, condemnation was defeated so that God's righteousness would be fulfilled in us. This truth is not merely a doctrine, but a reality that must shape our daily life: walking by the Spirit involves cultivating habits that reflect the freedom Christ obtained for us. We no longer live to satisfy the flesh, but to align every thought, desire, and action with the life that comes from the Spirit, to experience the peace that only Christ can give.
In practice, living according to the Spirit means seeking constant communion with God through prayer, allowing the Word to guide every decision, and maintaining a mind fixed on what is true, noble, just, and of good report. When the mind is filled with the things of the Spirit, life is transformed: there is love poured out in relationships, there is patience in trials, and there is hope that sustains even in the midst of struggle. Our call is to cry out for daily renewal of our interior life, so that the grace that freed us may also make us free in relation to the world, family, and the community of faith. Be encouraged, brother or sister: the work of Christ on the cross and the life in the Spirit empower you to live in victory and in peace each day.
