When Everything Seems formless, God is Already Moving

Before any garden, any color and beauty, the Bible presents us with a strange scene: a formless, empty land, covered in darkness. Nothing seemed promising, nothing invited hope, no trace of life or order was visible.

Yet, the Spirit of God was already moving over the waters. Before any perceptible change, before any ray of light, God was already there, present, observing, enveloping, and sustaining that silent chaos.

This reminds us that God does not start to act only when everything is beautiful and organized; He enters right in the midst of chaos. He does not wait for life to be tidy before approaching, but comes closer to initiate something new from nothing and confusion.

In Christ, we see this same truth: the Word that creates all things also enters our confusing story to bring meaning. The mystery of Genesis 1:2 is that, even when we see nothing but darkness, God is already present, active, preparing a new beginning.
