The sovereignty of God over the earth and all that is in it, declared in Psalm 24:1, finds deep echo in light of its central idea: the Earth of the oceans reflects the Genesis creation, where Jesus is present and sustains all for Him and by Him. In every wave, in every continent, the presence of the Creator reveals itself as purpose and delight, so that we may recognize that the world and its inhabitants belong to Him. When we contemplate creation, we remember that Jesus is not only the center of salvation history, but the reason why everything was made; in Him all things were created, and in Him all things form His body, the Church, pointing to the cosmic reconciliation that He accomplished through the cross.
This reading invites us to a practice of faith that aligns our life with Christ's supremacy over creation. If the world is His and through Him, then our care for the earth, for the oceans, for biodiversity, and for people should arise from a confession of dependence and adoration: that every breath, every resource, and every relationship testify to the greatness of God. Creation, pointing to Jesus, calls us to a life of gratitude, responsibility, and service: we are stewards of what the Lord has made, so that the world may see in Him the wisdom of God who sustains all things in love and truth.
As we turn to Christ at the center of everything, we are led to depend on the grace that sustains our faith. From Genesis, we see the good creation extending to the cross, where Christ reconciles all things to Himself. This truth is not merely intellectual but practical: in acts of justice, caring for the earth, promoting justice among the peoples, and serving the needy, we proceed in obedience and love, recognizing that our whole life lies under the sovereignty of God. May our hope be steadfast: in Jesus, the Lord of all, we find the motive and the strength to live each day with purpose, faith, and joy, knowing that He is preparing all things so that the glory of God may be revealed in all of creation.
