All Glory to the Name of the Lord

The cry of the psalmist in Psalms 115:1 is both simple and profound: "Not to us, Lord, not to us, but to your Name be the glory, for your love and your faithfulness!" This verse places us, right from the start, in the right position: we are not the center of the story, God is. The Bible realigns our hearts, reminding us that all honor belongs to Him.

We live in a world that constantly encourages us to seek recognition, approval, likes, and applause. The culture around us pushes us towards self-promotion and the need to be seen and celebrated. In this context, the message of the psalm sounds almost like a shock, because it calls us to relinquish the throne we try to occupy.

Instead of asking, "What will I gain from this?", the Word invites us to ask another question: "How can God's Name be honored through this?" This shift takes the focus off ourselves and places it on the one who is worthy of all exaltation. When we look at our decisions, plans, and achievements from this perspective, everything takes on a new meaning.

When the glory goes to Him, our hearts finally find rest. We stop carrying the weight of maintaining an image, of proving our worth all the time, and begin to live sustained by grace. Thus, instead of living tired trying to impress, we learn to rest in God's faithfulness and to live for His glory, which is the place where our souls were created to be.
