The God who provides and deserves my priority

In Genesis 1:30 we read that God gave every land and air creature the green plant for food: "And so it was." This verse presents a sovereign God who, in addition to creating, provides for the life of his creation. If God is the most important thing to you, this passage confirms that He is both transcendent and close and provident.

That God even provided for the animals invites us to acknowledge our own dependence: we are not self-sufficient; we live because He sustains the world. The "and so it was" reveals the effective faithfulness of his word: what He declares comes to pass. This universal provision shows a God who prioritizes life and acts with goodness for the good of creation.

In practice, affirming that God is the most important thing transforms our daily decisions: to eat with gratitude, manage resources responsibly, and seek first his kingdom rather than accumulation. Putting God first frees us from anxious striving and enables us to be good stewards of what He entrusts to us. Cultivate simple habits of dependence: pray before meals, give thanks, and share what you have in obedience and love.

Today I encourage you to review your priorities in the light of this passage: if God is truly first, your hours, your spending, and your affections will reflect it. Trust in the provision of the Creator who cares even for the birds and the beasts; live with simplicity and generosity as a response of faith. Remain in Him and put Him first in every decision. Be encouraged: walk confidently in the God who provides.
