In the Beginning: God, Author and Organizer

The first word of the Bible puts us before the absolute beginning: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1). Before anything created, there exists the person of God, the initiative and foundation of all reality. This truth reminds us that life, like Scripture, has a trustworthy and meaningful origin; we are not the product of chance but of the deliberate act of the Creator.

As we read this verse in the morning of our routines, we can see a pastoral parallel: just as God created order where there was emptiness and darkness, He also organizes our lives and thoughts. The notes and labels we use to organize information are a practical reflection of this theological truth: God not only creates, but arranges and gives purpose. Recognizing His creative action helps us trust that we are part of a greater design.

Living under the truth of Genesis 1:1 yields concrete spiritual consequences: hope in the midst of confusion, rest before chaos, and a call to creative responsibility. As image-bearers of God, we are called to order our tasks, relationships, and priorities according to His will and His word, knowing that He sustains what is created and invites us to participate in His redemptive and ordering work.

May this reality sustain you today: the God who made the heavens and the earth can bring clarity where there is disorder and purpose where there is emptiness. Trust in His sovereignty and allow His Word to guide your day; rise with courage and the assurance that the Creator walks with you and gives meaning to every step.
