Before time existed, before there were mountains, seas, or stars, the Word already was: Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God. His story did not begin in the manger of Bethlehem; there, simply, He revealed to human eyes the One who had always been, without beginning or end. From eternity, the Son was in perfect communion with the Father, in a relationship of uninterrupted love.
The apostle John teaches us that the Word was with God and that the Word was God. With these words, he affirms that Jesus is not just another creature, but fully shares the same divine nature as the Father. He is not someone resembling God, nor an exceptional messenger, but God Himself making His presence known in history.
This means that, when we contemplate Christ, we do not see merely a model of virtue or a moral reference, but the very heart of God manifested in human form. In His words, gestures, and decisions, the character of God is expressed: His holiness, His justice, His mercy, and His faithful love towards humanity.
Therefore, when we follow Jesus, we do not simply adhere to the teachings of a great master, but we respond to the call of the eternal God made man. He has approached us in a concrete, close, and accessible way, full of grace and truth, so that we may know Him, trust in Him, and live in communion with His presence.
