Courage to Wait on God

The psalmist invites us: "Trust in the Lord! Thus, you will strengthen your heart by placing all your hope solely in the Lord." In these words, there is a clear call: to place in God the weight of our expectations, fears, and longings. It is not a generic piece of advice, but a concrete direction for the inner self: by turning our hearts to the Lord, we find the firm point that sustains all that we are.

This phrase reveals a simple yet profound spiritual secret: our hearts are strengthened as we choose to trust. Inner strength does not arise, first and foremost, from the absence of problems, but from the decision to lean on God even when nothing around seems favorable. The more we learn to rest in Him, the less our hearts become captives of life's fluctuations.

We do not always feel strong, we do not always have clarity about the future, and many times we find ourselves tired, confused, or discouraged. Still, in the midst of these fragilities, we are called to rest in who God is, and not in what we can see or control. He remains faithful, even when our emotions fluctuate or our human certainties are shaken.

God does not ask us to have all the answers, nor to perfectly understand every circumstance; He invites us to turn our gaze to Him amidst doubts. The trust that the psalmist speaks of is not a fleeting emotion, but a decision renewed day after day: to lean on God's faithfulness and not on the unstable circumstances around us, allowing the heart to be firm, to be strengthened, and to find peace in His presence.
