Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:10-20 that the Christian life is a real battle, even though it is not visible to our eyes. He shows us that there is a spiritual conflict happening around us, even when we do not clearly perceive it. This struggle is not something distant or theoretical, but part of our daily walk with God, amidst the circumstances, temptations, and pressures of this world.
We do not fight against people, but against spiritual forces of evil that act in a subtle and persistent way. Therefore, we cannot rely solely on our emotions, goodwill, or intelligence to face these battles. Our human resources are important, but insufficient when the confrontation is spiritual. We need to humbly recognize that we cannot handle everything on our own.
The Word calls us to learn to strengthen ourselves in the Lord and in the power of His might, and not in our own strength, which is so fragile and limited. Instead of trusting in our own understanding, we are invited to lean on the grace, presence, and faithfulness of God. It is in the living relationship with Christ that we find the inner strength to remain steadfast, even when everything around seems discouraging.
Thus, we understand that the armor of God is not an optional accessory, but a daily protection for the heart, mind, and steps. In Christ, we have everything necessary to stand firm and not retreat, even when the day is evil and the soul feels weary. Clothed in this armor, we can face each challenge with confidence, knowing that we are not alone, but guarded by the Lord in every detail of the journey.
