In the Beginning of Everything: Christ at the Center of Creation and Identity

At the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth; and the Text points to the Word that sustains all of creation. This passage, simple in words, is profound in revelation: creation did not arise by chance, but by the loving decision of God, who asserts for Himself the authorship of all that exists. As we contemplate Genesis 1:1, we are reminded that existence and purpose do not begin with our autonomy, but with what Christ, by the Word, maintains in all the cosmos. In Jesus, who is the Word by whom everything was made, we find the foundation of a life that does not derive from chaos but from the order that God brings to the heart of the world. Each day, the Lord invites us to recognize that our identity is rooted in the Creator who not only made, but sustains, guides, and calls us to an existence marked by worship, obedience, and fellowship with Him.

The creation narrative points to the full fulfillment in Christ: in Him the old things pass away, new things come, and our response is to align our hearts with the divine purpose. The church is called to live with the awareness that time, relationships, and human resources reflect the grandeur of the One who made the world, and who dwells among us by faith. The text challenges us to cultivate a practice of prayer, wisdom, and obedience that honors the Author of all things. Remembering that God formed humanity to dwell with Him, Christian tradition finds in daily life the continuation of this redemptive work – a life that points to the kingdom of God already inaugurated in Jesus, and that awaits its consummation when Christ returns.

May our reading not remain merely intellectual, but transform habits, decisions, and relationships. If we recognize that we were created by a God who is love, then this love will manifest in care for people, in faithfulness to daily tasks, and in the hope that does not fade in the face of challenges. At every moment, God’s grace sustains us; devotional life becomes practical as we demonstrate compassion, humility, and perseverance, reflecting the image of the Creator. May we, then, encourage one another to live with purpose, trusting that at the beginning God already revealed the plan of redemption in Christ, and that, amid everything, God’s love remains steadfast to guide us. I urge you to seek the presence of the Lord daily, to allow the Word to order your steps, and to rest in the certainty that Christ’s grace sustains all things.
