The Power of Fasting in the Vision of Glory: A Reflection from Revelation 21:16

The passage of Revelation 21:16 presents us with a square city, perfect in length, width, and height, measured by the rod. In the midst of these divine proportions we discover that everything in the kingdom of God is ordered according to His justice and wisdom. When we behold the integrity of that city, we can understand that the power of fasting is not an isolated truth, but a discipline that places our life under the sovereignty of God, allowing us to align our desires with His will and to stand firm in faith when modern circumstances threaten to lead us away from the Lord's path.

The call to fasting is not merely an ascetic practice, but a humble response before the greatness of the divine plan. Through fasting, the believer opens spaces for humility, to recognize that life does not depend on his own strength but on the grace that flows in Christ. It is in that dependence where the mind is clarified, the heart is purified, and the spirit is inclined to obey the will of God, as the glory of the heavenly city reflects a perfect obedience to His authority.

And in light of the promise of a city whose measures reveal a fullness that only God can disclose, we are called to practice fasting as a practice of faith that strengthens hope and spiritual discipline. Let this exercise not be for display, but for inner transformation that, in weakness, finds its strength in Christ. I encourage perseverance in conscious prayer, in seeking the Father's will, and in the confidence that, by depending on Him, we will experience growth that brings us closer to the fullness of life in the Kingdom of God.
