In the Beginning: A Reflection on Creation and the Word that Sustains Existence

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and the beauty of this statement is not only the start of an ancient account, but the declaration of who God is: Creator, Sovereign, promoter of life. When we contemplate the order with which God brought the cosmos into being — light separating from darkness, water from the firmament, earth and all its plants — we are invited to recognize the primacy of God's Word over our own imagination. Faith begins by hearing: God spoke, and it was so; our response is the obedience that blossoms when the Word finds space in our hearts and in our hands to act.

From this truth, we are called to a devotional practice that does not rest content with abstract concepts, but transforms daily life. If the universe was formed by the creative Word, how can we not confess that every breath, every step, every decision rests on the balance of what God has spoken? The Christian life, guided by the Word, finds its essence in the humility of recognizing that we do not create reality, but receive creation as a gift. Today, our reflection is not only at the beginning, but in the continuation of God’s work that continues to shape the world by His word and by the presence of the Spirit.

May this beginning remind us of a clear motivation: to return to the origins with a faith that does not exhaust itself in curiosity, but transforms into an action of love, in daily fidelity and in testimony that God still speaks and still upholds all that exists. May we, as Christians, live daily life as a response to divine creation, practicing gratitude, integrity, and service to one another, trusting that the God who created all things continues to gather all under the lordship of Christ.
