Remember to Believe Again

Sibelle S.

In Deuteronomy 7:18, God tells the people not to fear, but to remember what He did to Pharaoh and all of Egypt. The Lord is teaching that the memory of God's works is a remedy against fear. Israel would not face the future empty-handed, but carrying with them the living testimony of the great deliverances of the past. When we look back and see God's hand, the heart calms and faith is renewed. The same God who opened the sea and humbled Pharaoh is the One who walks with us today in Christ Jesus.

In Christ, we see the greatest of all God's works: the cross and the resurrection. If the Father did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things we need for His will? The remembrance of Calvary puts our present fears into perspective. What seems impossible today has already been overcome at its root, when Jesus defeated sin, death, and hell. Every time fear rises, the Christian is called to look again at the empty cross and the empty tomb, and remember: "He has already proven His love for me."

That is why it is so important to cultivate the habit of recalling and recounting the great blessings of the Lord in our history. When you share how God sustained you in a difficult time, your faith is strengthened for new challenges. Writing down answers to prayer, witnessing at home, in church, and with friends is a practical way to obey God's call: "remember well what the Lord has done." By revisiting the past in the light of grace, you learn to interpret the present not through the lens of fear, but of divine faithfulness. Thus, the heart gets used to saying: "He has been faithful before, He will be faithful again."

The same applies to the future: there is nothing to fear, the Lord is with you every step of the way. When tomorrow seems uncertain, bring to mind what God has already done, both in the pages of the Bible and in your own story. Instead of feeding scenarios of defeat, nourish the memory of the provision, comfort, and deliverances He has already given you. In Jesus, the God who acted in Egypt now dwells in you through the Holy Spirit, guiding, strengthening, and keeping you. Walk today with this certainty in your heart: do not fear, remember the Lord, recount His works, and move forward in faith, for the God who has done great things in the past will continue to do so in your life, in the present and in the future.
