In the Image of God: the Presence of Christ from Creation

God created man in His image and likeness, granting him a place of responsible dominion over creation. In this act of design, divine sovereignty is interwoven with a call to live in holiness and truth, reflecting the intimate relationship between Creator and creature. When we contemplate Genesis 1:26, we discover that the image of God is not a passive title, but a living vocation that guides every decision, every interaction with creation and with others.

The central note you shared reminds us that Christ is present from creation, and that Jesus would even say: before there was day, I am. This statement reveals the eternity and authority of Christ, who is not only revealed in the scenes of redemption, but is present in the creative act. If God said, Let Us make man in Our image, then the fullness of that image finds its ultimate fulfillment in Him who is the Word made flesh, in Him who sustains the world and redeems what is lost. Our faith is strengthened by recognizing that human life, from its beginning, points to Christ, who is the perfect image of the Father.

As believers, responding to this call means walking in obedience, humility, and devotion, remembering that our identity does not reside in human achievements but in our belonging to Christ. May the way we treat the earth, the creatures, and one another reflect the beauty of the Triune relationship and the divine purpose for each day. And even as the world seeks shortcut paths, we can look to Him who is the complete image and find encouragement to live with hope, active faith, and love that transforms.
