In John 2:20, the Jews speak of the temple that was built in forty-six years, and they are astonished that Jesus says He will raise it up in three days. The passage invites us to hear Christ from His incarnation: it is not about a stone sanctuary, but about the body that He would choose as the dwelling place of God's glory. Jesus reveals that the power of God does not depend on the duration of human work nor on the grandeur of a temple, but on His person and mission: He is the place where God dwells in grace and truth. When we contemplate this, we are called to reframe our worship and our offerings, remembering that the purpose of every temple is to point to the Author of life and not to bind oneself to a created object.
