Glorying in His Power: Devotional Reflection on 2 Corinthians 12:9

joselin b.

I will boast in your power, oh Lord, when the reality of my weakness confronts me. In your words I find a divine pedagogy: it is not my strength that sustains my faith, but your grace that remains even when my chest beats with fear, weariness, or uncertainty. In Christ, what seems like a limit is transformed into a channel for your power to be perfected in my weakness; not so that I cover my fragility with human pride, but so that your grace shines more fully amid my everyday fragility.

When I recognize that I can only move forward by your strength, my path stops depending on what I can achieve with my efforts and shifts to depend on your work in me. This surrender does not minimize personal responsibility; on the contrary, it calls me to humble obedience that walks alongside grace. In every trial, in every difficult decision, your power manifests in a mysterious and mighty way, reminding me that weakness is not defeat, but a lever to discover your presence and your constant grace.

By living this way, I discover that the Christian life is not a display of self-sufficiency, but a revelation of your glory amid our vulnerability. I boast in your power, knowing that my weakness is the stage where your power is visible to others. May my confidence not be in my ability to resolve everything, but in your faithfulness that sustains, renews, and directs. May each day, when facing trials, I rise with hope, trusting that your grace is sufficient and your power is perfected in my weakness, so that others may behold Christ and draw near to you with renewed faith.
