Pray in Secret to Break Chains

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:6 that true prayer arises from the inner life: go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. It is not a technique to attract attention, but an invitation to humility before the Father who sees what is hidden and guards the treasure of our motivations.

When we combine that secret prayer with fasting, we do it as an act of dependence: with patience so as not to demand immediate results, with love because we seek the Father’s will and not our own pride, and with faith expecting Him to act. Practice going into your room, disconnecting distractions, setting aside a time for prayer and, if you are going to fast, starting with small steps and sustaining it in community or under spiritual direction if necessary.

✱ ✱ ✱

The promise of the passage is that the Father who sees in secret will reward; that reward often manifests as freedom from the chains that bind us: habits, fears, resentments, or spiritual influences opposed to the peace of Christ. It is not a magical ritual, but the work of a God who responds to humble and persevering faith: your consistency in praying and fasting paves the way for His liberating intervention and inner transformation.

Today I encourage you to set aside a place in your day to pray with patience, love, and faith; if you decide to fast, do it as a sign of dependence and surrender. Trust the Father who sees in secret: He listens, acts, and will reward you with freedom and hope. Persevere and receive encouragement in His faithfulness.
