Woman: Good from Creation and Redeemed in Christ

When we read Genesis 3:16 we confront the reality of sin: 'I will greatly increase your pain in childbirth... and he will rule over you.' This verse describes the consequences of the Fall, the fragility and the tensions that today mark relationships and bodies. We do not minimize the pain or the injustice; Scripture speaks plainly so that we may acknowledge the wound that sin has left on humanity.

That is why since ancient times it has been said that woman is good: God created her in his image and likeness, with dignity, value and purpose (Genesis 1:27). The declaration of original goodness does not disappear because of the punishment of the Fall; rather, it illuminates that pain and oppression are a rupture of what God intended to create. Recognizing the original goodness compels us to defend, care for, and restore it in daily life.

In Christ we find the answer to that rupture: his redemptive work not only forgives sin but begins the restoration of human dignity. Jesus honors women in his ministry, offers them forgiveness, dignity and a place in the Kingdom; therefore the church is called to act accordingly: to accompany in childbirth and in suffering, to denounce unjust domination, to practice the justice and love that reflect the glory of God. Practicing this restoration involves repentance where there has been abuse, service where there is need, and concrete attention to the wounds that sin has caused.

May this truth move you to live with hope and responsibility: honor the goodness of the woman created by God, support those who suffer and bring others to the Lord who restores. Trust that Christ heals, lifts up and dignifies; continue serving with courage and compassion, knowing that in Him there is new creation and real hope for today. Take heart: in Christ you have reason to persevere and to love.
