The Shepherd Who Enters by the Door

In John 10:2 Jesus presents himself clearly: "But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep." With this image his legitimate authority over the flock is revealed: he is not an intruder or usurper, but the recognized guide who has the right and the responsibility to care for, feed, and lead.

Being a shepherd implies closeness and knowledge; the one who enters by the door knows his sheep, calls them by name, and accompanies them on the paths. When we confess Christ as our Shepherd, we accept his daily care: his wise decisions, his watchfulness against danger, and his power to restore what is broken in our lives.

The practical response is to listen to and follow his voice. This requires silence for prayer, discipline for the Word, and community where his direction can be discerned; it also involves concrete obedience: trusting in his provision, seeking his guidance in decisions, and turning to him in need. It is not just about doctrines, but about a living relationship with the Shepherd who walks with us.

Therefore, live today under his care: let Jesus lead you through the doors he opens, trust in his protection, and allow his voice to mark your steps. Take heart: the Shepherd who enters by the door is with you and will not let you go astray or falter.
