Luke tells us that Satan entered into Judas, one of the twelve who had walked with Jesus for three years and had been entrusted with the group’s money. This is a sobering reminder that spiritual warfare is not just an abstract idea; the enemy actively looks for hearts to influence and plans to twist. Even those who are close to the work of God are not beyond the reach of temptation and deception.
Judas had seen the blind receive sight, the dead raised to life, and great multitudes miraculously fed. He had firsthand experience of Jesus’ compassion, power, and teaching, yet he still yielded his heart to the devil’s scheme. His story warns us that witnessing miracles and being near spiritual activity is not the same as surrendering our hearts fully to Christ.
Luke 4:13 says that after tempting Jesus in the wilderness, Satan left Him until an opportune time. Luke 22:3 reveals one of those dark opportunities when Satan found an opening in Judas’s life. These moments do not appear out of nowhere; they arise when sin, unbelief, or unresolved issues are left to grow in the hidden places of the heart.
The devil is patient, watching for moments of weakness, bitterness, or secret sin, and he works subtly over time. He crafts his schemes not only through direct spiritual attack but also through ordinary people, everyday conversations, and a series of small choices that slowly drift a heart away from Christ. Because of this, we are called to stay alert, guard our hearts, and cling closely to Jesus in every season.
