Selling Greater Things in Christ

Bruna F.

Throughout the Gospel of John, we find a rich revelation about the identity of Jesus Christ. In the passage of John 1:50, Jesus responds to Nathanael with a statement that makes us reflect deeply on the divine nature of Christ and the promises He brings. He says: "For you will see greater things than these." This declaration is not just an invitation to faith, but also a powerful affirmation of what it means to follow Jesus. He is the Son of God, the one who has the power to transform our lives and lead us to a deep and transformative spiritual experience.

Jesus' response to Nathanael reveals a fundamental aspect of the Christian faith: the ability to see beyond what physical eyes can perceive. When Jesus mentions the fig tree, He is not just talking about a physical moment, but establishing a new standard of spiritual perception. By believing in Jesus, we are invited to see the reality of God in action around us. This leads us to understand that Jesus is not just a spiritual leader, but God Himself who walks with us, revealing Himself in every aspect of our lives. The vision of greater things is a promise that extends to all of us who have decided to follow Christ.

As daughters and sons of God, we are called to a relationship of worship and obedience to Jesus. This relationship should not be based solely on signs and wonders, but on a deep commitment to follow Him who loved us first. Worshiping Christ leads us to a state of humility and gratitude, recognizing that without Him, we can do nothing. When we embrace this truth, our faith becomes an active purpose in our lives, as we begin to seek not just the blessings, but the very Author of life. Thus, each day becomes an opportunity to experience the greatness of God and witness His works in our journey.

Therefore, as we meditate on the word of Jesus, we are encouraged to look to the future with hope and expectation. Christ's invitation is for us to look beyond our current circumstances and glimpse the greatness of His work in our lives. By following Jesus, we not only become sons and daughters of God, but also witnesses of His glory. May we surrender to Him, trusting that the greater things we will see are fruits of our faith and relationship with the Lord. May today be a firm step towards Jesus, knowing that great things await us under His direction.
