Before I knew the Lord my life had no meaning; that feeling of emptiness finds an answer in God's Word: "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works..." (Ephesians 2:10). The verse places us in the truth that we are not an accident or a failed project, but the deliberate work of the Creator, and our story is reoriented from disorder toward a divine purpose that is revealed in Christ.
Being "his workmanship" implies a new identity: we are not what we were before knowing Christ, but people rebuilt for a specific purpose. "Good works" are not a means to gain acceptance, but the natural expression of a transformed life; God prepared them beforehand for us to live according to the intention He had when He created us.
Walking in those works is practical and everyday: attending to the needy, being faithful at work, forgiving, teaching, praying, and obeying in the small decisions. Walking in what God prepared requires spiritual discipline —reading Scripture, fellowship with believers, dependence on the Spirit— and a humble willingness to listen to and obey the opportunities God places before us.
If today you look back and see days without direction, remember that in Christ you have been made for an eternal purpose; your past does not erase the work God is doing in you. Rise up with the confidence of one who has been created by wise and loving hands, and begin to walk in the works He prepared: there is meaning, there is calling, and there is hope. Take heart and walk in the work for which God formed you!
